Paddle
Accept cards, PayPal, Apple Pay and more via Paddle — the Merchant of Record that handles global sales tax and VAT for you.
About Paddle
Paddle is a Merchant of Record payment platform: it processes the payment AND acts as the reseller, so Paddle collects and remits sales tax/VAT on your behalf. The buyer completes payment on Paddle's hosted checkout — the buyer picks their method (cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and local methods) — and Paddle handles tax, invoicing and fraud.
## Features
- Cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and more
- Merchant of Record — Paddle collects and remits global sales tax / VAT
- Hosted checkout (PCI DSS compliant — card data never touches your store)
- Signed webhooks (HMAC-SHA256), verified against the Paddle API
- One API key; the pdl_sdbx_apikey_/pdl_live_apikey_ prefix selects the environment
## Supported Currencies
USD, EUR, GBP, AUD, CAD, CHF, CNY, CZK, DKK, HKD, INR, JPY, KRW, MXN, NOK, NZD, PLN, SEK, SGD, THB, ARS, BRL, ZAR, TWD, UAH, TRY, RUB
## Note
Paddle is designed for digital products and SaaS. Review Paddle's Acceptable Use Policy before selling physical goods.
## Setup
1. In Paddle → Developer tools → Authentication, create an API key (pdl_sdbx_apikey_… to trial, pdl_live_apikey_… for real payments).
2. In Paddle → Developer tools → Notifications, add the webhook URL shown in the Paddle section of Settings → Payments, subscribe it to the transaction.* events, and copy its secret key.
3. In Paddle → Checkout settings, set a default payment link to your storefront's /checkout?paddle_return=1 so the hosted checkout URL and post-payment return work.
4. Enter your API key and webhook secret in Settings → Payments → Paddle and click Test connection.
