Your New Store's Sample Content
What Gets Created Automatically
When you create a new Cartly store, the platform automatically provisions a ready-to-browse storefront with sample content so you can see how everything looks and works right away. The sample content includes:
- Sample products — a small set of demo products with images, descriptions, and variants. These give your storefront a realistic appearance while you are setting up.
- Collections — the sample products are organised into demo collections so your collection pages are not empty on day one.
- Starter pages — two ready-to-edit policy pages: Shipping Policy and Returns Policy. Both appear in your footer navigation and contain placeholder text you can edit to match your store policies.
- Currency — the store default currency is set from your country during sign-up. You can change it at any time in Settings → Currencies.
Replacing Sample Content
Sample content is designed to be replaced, not kept. Here is how to remove or replace each piece:
- Sample products — go to Products in your admin, select all demo products, and delete them. Then add your own products.
- Collections — go to Collections, delete the demo collections, and create your own. Associate your products to collections once you have added them.
- Shipping Policy / Returns Policy pages — go to Online Store → Pages, open each policy page, and edit the content to describe your actual policies. Do not delete these pages — they are referenced by your footer navigation and help with SEO.
Theme and Appearance
Your store comes with the Clarity theme installed as the default. You can start customising it immediately in Online Store → Themes → Customize, or install a different theme from App Store → Themes.
Does Replacing Content Affect My Store's SEO?
Replacing sample products and pages does not negatively affect SEO because your store is new and not yet indexed by search engines. Take your time setting up your actual content — SEO benefits accumulate after you start publishing real products and pages.
I Want to Keep the Demo Content for Testing
You can keep sample content as long as you like. It behaves exactly like real products and pages — you can add them to collections, test checkout, and explore the admin with them. Just remember to replace or remove them before you launch to customers, as demo product titles and descriptions will appear to shoppers.
